Crowdfunding Corner – February 19th

Crowdfunding is a critical component of game development, especially in the realm of indie games. With so many different websites and even more projects to comb through, gamers can easily find themselves overwhelmed.

With so many projects with all sorts of potential, we want to help gamers and investors identify a few games they otherwise may not have stumbled across. Our highlights include projects listed across four crowdfunding platforms: Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Fig, and Brightlocker.

Keep in mind, the games we have listed below are not games that we have deemed to be the “best,” but they are intriguing and show the promise and potential to be very good games in the future.

once upon a coma.jpgAfter Pete wakes from a strange coma, he discovers things aren’t exactly as he remembers. His home-town is overrun with naughty children, and the grown-ups have vanished. Pete quickly learns of massive insects, child-eating zombie-parents, other-worldly puzzles, and intricate maze-like forts woven together throughout a large late-summer dreamscape. The same forts Pete and his gang built a year earlier are suddenly larger, stranger, and more dangerous than ever.

With the help of your childhood pals, your pet bird, and your father’s trusty razor blade, it’s up to you to discover the secret of your missing sister and the bizarre world around you. To do this, you must learn various pieces of music written by your sister scattered across the world. Play them on your old piano to unlock secret passageways, clues, and new abilities for traversal across the increasingly threatening landscape.

Estimated Delivery Date: As early as April 2018 depending on reward

unleashed creaturesUnleashed is a dark 2D RPG for Windows that features sandbox elements. It is set in Mystria, a magical world. The game has been inspired by famous series such as Pokemon or Final Fantasy. Our goal is to grab all the elements of the RPG we love and put them in a single game. Add to this the newest and popular features such as housing, crafting, farming, and you get Unleashed. We also wanted to work on a darker story focused on sins and virtues for a more mature audience. Lastly, we wanted to make an open world filled with details, unlike a lot of RPGs that really feel empty after some hours. What you can expect from Unleashed in 4 points:

  • Exploration of a rich open world
  • Dark and complex story with a background to discover
  • Strategic semi turn based 3v3 battles
  • Random loot, events, encounters, and more!
