Oh Nintendo, how you continue to keep me excited each week. I used to hate Mondays, because it meant the weekend was over and I have to go back to work…but now I get pumped and excited for Mondays! Mondays, means updates to what is being released for the Nintendo Switch as well as reveals of new games coming out for it. I now don’t consider it to be Miserable Monday but Magnificent Monday!!!
Street Fighter 30th Anniversary – On Sunday, Capcom talked about the 30th anniversary of Street Fighter. This game was possibly the father of fighting games and was the one game I remembered the most from my childhood. My brother and I would go out to the arcades to play it, and would have to line up coins to wait our turn to play the next match. When Super Street Fighter Turbo came out for the SNES, we were obsessed with it. We would spend hours practicing that knife’s edge on the controller to get an input to do our Hadokens or Shoryukens. Before these new fangled practice modes that are standard in fighting games, we would have to set up unlimited time rounds and put the second player controller under the SNES to have continual blocking. Those were the glory days…..and Capcom is bringing them back! Capcom has announced for release the 30th anniversary edition of Street Fighter in May of 2018. The game will come with 12 versions of the classic fighting game along with online modes for the Nintendo Switch, XBox One, PS4 and Windows:
- Street Fighter
- Street Fighter II
- Street Fighter II Champion Edition
- Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting
- Street Fighter II The New Challengers
- Street Fighter II Turbo
- Street Fighter Alpha
- Street Fighter Alpha 2
- Street Fighter Alpha 3
- Street Fighter III
- Street Fighter III: Second Impact
- Street Fighter III: Third Strike
Square Enix Modernization – Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda has stated the desire to make older titles in their extensive library available for digital download. Mr. Matsuda did note that they did not want to just directly port the games from their original format, but that they would want to modernize them as well. This would allow newer generation of players to experience some of the great classics that the company has put out, with tweaks to meet the modern players behaviors. On a personal note, I would love it if Square Enix gave the option to play the original or the remastered version, so that players of the original classics could go through the game the way it originally was released.
Road Trippin’ with the Nintendo Switch – Are you planning on doing road trips for the holiday season but still want to play the Switch or let your kids play the Switch in the back seat? Well if so Tyrone has created a Headrest mount for your Nintendo Switch so passengers can play on the go.
We highly advise and are against you playing the Switch if you are driver, even though we want to. And this is probably a lifehack you shouldn’t be using.
Nyko Kickstand – Want a little more oomph in your kickstand for the Nintendo Switch? Nyko has released a metal kickstand [$4.99 USD on Amazon] which should be a bit more robust than the standard kickstand found on the Nintendo Switch. The kickstand also provides a spare spot to store a secondary MicroSD card in case you are like me and buy almost every game in existence for the Nintendo Switch.
