Highlights

We saw 18 games released in the last week and 21 games over the last 8 days. Some of these titles were more anticipated than others. One of the newest ports to the Switch, Pokken Tournament DX, is seeing tremendous traction a week into it’s release. Another popular (Switch only) title that is receiving a lot of buzz only 24 hours into release is Golf Story. Our own @vietpham123 recorded his thought on the game which can be seen here:

The LEGO NINJAGO Movie Video Game was released and is top of mind for fans of the franchise with the recent movie release. We also saw a throwback to 1983 with the release of Arcade Archives: Mario Bros. A potentially award-winning title, Thimbleweed Park, was released and just might be the point-and-click adventure game you have been looking for. It offers a rich playing experience with a great story line.

Complaint Corner

It wouldn’t be the age of the internet if we did have a few complaints in the community. So what are we griping about this week?

Ports: We live in a world where we are all hungry for content. And yet, when that content is released in the form of a port, we are still unhappy. What’s wrong with making our favorite games available for our new favorite platform?

Apparently everything. The demand for new IP is a positive thing and it shows how popular the Switch truly is. That being said, we should embrace 3rd party developers bringing their products to the Switch. It means those game developers see the opportunity of this new flexible gamer experience. The fact developers are re-working their games to bring them to the Switch is a testament as to how good this platform truly is.
